Since Kodi is not available on the Mac App Store, you need to download Kodi updates on macOS from the official website. It’s a pretty easy and straightforward process. Here are the steps to follow. Open Kodi’s download page for macOS and click on the “Installer(64BIT)” button. It will start downloading the latest DMG file for Kodi. The Fire TV will only recognise SD or USB drives formatted in FAT32 (not even FAText – windows 10 default). I had to use linux to reformat my USB drive as a FAT32 one. You can then use a media player like VLC or KODI to play movies on the drive (remember the 2GB limit though).

Before you begin, ALLOW UNKNOWN SOURCES
Open kodi > click settings (cog wheel top left) > system settings > add-ons > turn on unknown sources > click yes at the warning, return to kodi home screen.
1.~ From the kodi home screen click settings (cog wheel top left)>FILE MANAGER
2.~ ADD SOURCE > select NONE
3.~ Type in https://fuse99.com/aliunde click OK, then OK again
4.~ Return to the Kodi home screen
5.~Click ADDONS > INSTALLER (box icon top left) > INSTALL FROM REPOSITORY
6.~ALIUNDE > PROGRAM ADD-ONS > BACKUP RESTORE WIZARD > INSTALL
7.~Wait for ADD-ON ENABLED notification
BACKUP RESTORE WIZARD is now installed.
To access BACKUP RESTORE WIZARD from the kodi home screen, click ADD-ONS > PROGRAM ADD-ONS > BACKUP RESTORE WIZARD.
CONFLUENCE SKIN
1.~Under SYSTEM, click FILE MANAGER
2.~Add SOURCE > click NONE
3.~Type in https://fuse99.com/aliunde then click DONE
4.~Click OK > return to Kodi home screen
5.~Click SYSTEM > ADD-ONS > INSTALL FROM REPOSITORY
6.~ALIUNDE > PROGRAM ADD-ONS > BACKUP RESTORE WIZARD>INSTALL
7.~Wait for ADD-ON ENABLED notification
BACKUP RESTORE WIZARD is now installed.
To access BACKUP RESTORE WIZARD from the kodi home screen, click PROGRAMS > PROGRAM ADD-ONS > BACKUP RESTORE WIZARD.

1.~ From the kodi home screen click > ADD-ONS > PROGRAM ADD-ONS
2.~ Click BACKUP RESTORE WIZARD > you will see a message “YOU HAVE NOT SET YOUR STORAGE PATH-SET STORAGE PATH NOW?”
3.~ Click YES to the message
4.~ Click CHOOSE USB/SDCARD DESTINATION> EXTERNAL STORAGE > DOWNLOAD > click OK on the right
NOTE: At this point if you want to save your BACKUP to a USB STICK or SD CARD then browse to that destination
4a.~ PC USERS > C DRIVE > USERS > YOUR USER NAME > DESKTOP > BROWSE TO A FOLDER YOU MADE FOR THE BACKUP TO GO INTO > click OK on the right
5.~ Then click OK again > BACKUP > FULL BACKUP
You now have your kodi backed up, your backup is in your DOWNLOAD folder (or wherever you saved it) and is called backup.zip
